How to Get Your Brand Into Boutiques (Without Knowing Anyone)

Cold-calling boutique buyers with a line sheet rarely works. Here's the credibility-first approach we use to open retail doors in new markets — before we ever make the ask.

Why cold outreach fails

Boutique buyers talk to hundreds of brands a year. A cold email with a line sheet and wholesale pricing looks like every other cold email. There is no reason for them to take a meeting with you over anyone else.

Build credibility before you ask for the meeting

The most effective approach is to make the buyer aware of your brand before you pitch them. That means influencer content in their city, press coverage in publications they read, and a look book that signals you're ready for retail.

Research before outreach

Not every boutique is right for your brand. Map the stores whose existing brands and aesthetic align with yours. Understand their price point, their customer, and their buying calendar before you reach out.

The first email

Short. One paragraph. Lead with a mutual reference point. Include a single link to your look book. Ask for 15 minutes. Do not attach a full line sheet to the first email.

The meeting

Bring physical product. Have the look book printed. Know your margin, your minimum order quantity, your lead time, and your return policy. Buyers want to know you're a reliable partner.
